100 Black Men of Syracuse has presented its Community Service Award, which recognizes a segment of the Syracuse community for its contributions that improve our city and region. Honorees can include individuals, organizations, businesses, etc. The 100 has presented the award at its annual banquet for five out of the past six years.

In 2014, 100 Black Men of Syracuse, Inc. is proud to honor the career of legendary broadcaster and educator Roosevelt “Rick” Wright Jr., Ph.D. with the organization’s Community Service Award. Dr. Wright, one of the 100’s most enthusiastic supporters, is the sole recipient of this year’s award and is perhaps best known for his long tenure as a radio and television professor at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communication and his long-running radio show, “Old School Sundays,” currently airing weekly on WPHR (Power 620).
