UPDATE: Alzheimer’s Association Exec Set as 2nd Town Hall Speaker
Dr. Sharon Brangman, director of the Center of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease at Upstate University Hospital, will be joined at an upcoming town hall by a key figure in developing the nation’s first unit for inmates with Alzheimer’s disease and other related forms of dementia. Dr. Brangman and Meg E. Boyce will serve as featured speakers at an upcoming town hall hosted by 100 Black Men of Syracuse and the Alzheimer’s Association Central New York Chapter. The March 12 event, titled “A Peace of Mind,” will begin at 6 p.m. at the Dunbar Center, 1453 So. State St. in Syracuse.
Dr. Brangman and Boyce, who is vice president of programs and services for the Alzheimer’s Association Hudson Valley Chapter, will assess the advancements being made to develop cutting-edge tools for early diagnosis, slowing down the disease’s progress and lessening the symptomatic memory loss, trouble concentrating and performing familiar tasks, and personality changes associated with Alzheimer’s Disease. Boyce replaces Erica K. Salamida, an official for the New York State Coalition of Alzheimer’s Association Chapters, who was originally scheduled to speak at the town hall.
