Seven first-time donors pitched in May 10 when they rolled up their sleeves during a blood collection drive co-sponsored by the 100 Black Men of Syracuse and the American Red Cross of Central New York at the South Side Innovation Center. In all, about a dozen donors, mostly members of the 100, did their part to help prevent local blood shortages. The blood they donated will help 33 patients in need of the life-saving fluid, according to local Red Cross officials.
