Recognized Educator to Deliver Keynote
Address at 10th Anniversary Gala
(Syracuse, New York, Oct. 22, 2017) – David C. Banks might have
stepped on the most prominent stage of his career when he
spoke during the 2016 Democratic National Convention.
Appearing alongside 40 scholars enrolled at the Eagle
Academy, Banks demonstrated why the school he co-founded for
at-risk young men in metropolitan New York City serves as an
inspiration for 100 Black Men of Syracuse. It’s also one of
many reasons the 100 invited Banks, president and CEO of the
Eagle Foundation to serve as keynote speaker at the
non-profit organization’s 10th Anniversary Gala, scheduled
Nov. 18 at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown.
True to the gala theme “Celebrating a Decade of Service,” the 100 will reflect on 10 years of serving youth and the Syracuse community through its mentoring, education, health and wellness, economic empowerment and leadership programs.
During the gala, the 100 will also recognize:
Community Service Awardees
- Walt Dixie, Executive Director, Jubilee Homes of Syracuse
- Sam Roberts, New York State
Office of Temporary Assistance and Disability; former
state Assemblyman
Future Leaders Awardee
- Sheena Solomon, Director of Neighborhood Initiatives, Gifford Foundation
